Vertical Road

w

“more and more, I am pulled reluctantly towards a strong horizontal current, which is a place where time is moving at such high velocity, that even our breath is forced to accelerate just in order for us humans to survive. And I have always believed, that it is in our slow exhalation, where the sense of this deep spiritual energy resides. In a world moving so fast, with the growth of technology and information, I am somehow inclined to move against this current, in search of what it might mean to be connected not just spiritually, but also vertically.”
akram khan

Vertical Notes is proud to write about the latest spell of Akram Khan: “Vertical Road”

The wizard of dance combined his magic with Nitin Shawney’s sweeping musical treat and gets ready to show us another breathless performance.

His words above show the depth of his soul and and his choice of  “vertical” for the name  tells more than anything indeed.

The World Premiere will be at Curve Theatre, Leicester on 16th September 2010.

Until then, we can over and over watch  “In-I” with shining Juliette Binoche and get lost in intense feelings.

Words are very unneccessary

Words…  can be deceptive. They can be manipulative. They ache, they break, they lack.

They simply are not enough. Watch and feel.

Ada Ev & Ada Sofra

DSCN1926

Bodrum is expanding it’s choices for ultimate style seeker travellers.  A newly opened, one-roomed concept hotel  Ada Ev  has been transformed from Mustafa Paşa Tower in Bodrum-Ortakent ( built in 1602) that had been used as a watch tower . The building is one of the best architectural examples in Bodrum Peninsula with massive stone walls.

One great side of the place is that, the hotel is for only one couple’s accomodation which makes the whole package a lot more romantic and seductive. They also pick you up from the airport and the driver stays at your service during your stay.

What is even more popular now in Bodrum is the restaurant of this hotel : Ada Sofra. Overlooking the tower and the  romantic Turkish Tuscany view, the place is remarkable with it’s ambience, service and food.

My favorite of all was the last surprise in the evening at the end of the dinner. Oregano liqueur accompanied with Turkish coffee. The liqueur was a very pleasant “ first”  in my life offering the regional oregano scent as a gourmet taste, as well as helping to digest.

It is possible to skip the expensive 500 Euro stay overnight  if you are not madly in love or looking for melancholy. But it is definitely essential to do as I did, and spend an evening with friends at this spot and have a classy dinner. But whatever you do, be sure to explore the tower and its excellently decorated interior.

Address: Mustafa Paşa Kulesi, Kule sok. no: 29, Ortakent – Bodrum / Turkey

Where to eat best in Mykonos

Picture1

Despite the “clubbing” label posted on it, Mykonos is one of the destinations that you can experience a variety of activities and leave the island with no night life even, if you like.

For instance, I think the island’s cuisine fame is in the shadow of it’s night life. The food is suberb and very well presented.

An island offering all in one, what more could you want?

Here are my best eating spots in Mykonos :

  • Where: Kiki’s
  • Try: Artichoke with mustard and parmesan cheese & Porkchops.

Agios Sostis Beach 84600 Mykonos

Ayios Gerasimos, Hora

Hora 84600

  • Where: Pelican   Restaurant
  • Try: Anything local, just to experience the island atmosphere under beugonvilles.

Gumenio Square

  • Where: Jimmi’s Souvlaki
  • Try: All kinds of meat wraps, delicious fast food & snacks for restless nights.

Ano Mera Square

  • Where: Nammos
  • Try: Nammos risotto with seafood (yummm)

Psarou Beach
